Hold Your Horses Kentucky Derby Viewing Party
Saturday, May 05, 2012 1:00 PM
WHAT:
On May 5th, The Los Angeles Athletic Club (LAAC) will celebrate the “Greatest 2 Minutes
In Sports” with its 2nd Annual Kentucky Derby Viewing Party appropriately named “Hold
Your Horses”. With the Kentucky Derby celebrating its 138th annual race this year, the LAAC
continues the tradition of bringing horse lovers, hat wearers and gamblers together to view a
classic annual horse race in a historic downtown setting in true Kentucky Derby fashion.

Taking place in the LAAC’s newly redesigned 3rd floor, Hold Your Horses will offer guests a
full sensory experience. While guests watch the Kentucky Derby races being shown on multiple
TV’s throughout the venue, they will be treated to an array of entertainment including live music
performed by Bastards Of Belleville, equine-inspired activities, specialty cocktail programs
including Whiskey flights led by Marcos Tello and even hedging a few bets on the races. For
the Derby guests who care more for equine-related fashion, hat designer Pooka Queen will be
onsite showcasing some of her original hat creations which will also be on sale during the event.

This year’s Hold Your Horses event has secured master Mixologist Marcos Tello, who will be
onsite creating an array of derby-related cocktail experiences. From a variety of Mint Juleps
over the last century to Whiskey Tastings, Bourbon cocktails and other classic drinks, Marcos’
specialty cocktail program will certainly be a winner in and of itself.

While horses, cocktails and fashion are often times the main focus at the derby, LAAC has
created a specialty food menu reflecting Kentucky’s amazing culinary traditions. The specialty
Kentucky Derby buffet will offer guests an array of southern food items.
